  • Silicone molds or flat tray lined with nonstick paper
  • Measuring spoons and cups
  • Small saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Dropper or small spoon
  • Scissors
  • Hole punch
  • Thin ribbon, cotton thread, or fishing line

Instructions

  1. Measure and hydrate the gelatin by sprinkling it over cold water and letting it sit for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Warm the gelatin and water mixture in a saucepan on low heat, stirring until it becomes silky.
  3. Stir in a teaspoon of white vinegar or lemon juice for clarity.
  4. Add a few drops of food coloring or natural pigments, stirring gently.
  5. Pour the mixture into molds or onto parchment paper, ensuring an even flow.
  6. Use a toothpick to remove bubbles and create details.
  7. Allow the pieces to set at room temperature for several hours or overnight.
  8. Once firm, peel from the mold and trim edges.
  9. Punch holes for hanging and attach ribbons or threads.
  10. Hang your suncatcher in a warm spot to enjoy the light.

Notes

Adult supervision is recommended during the warming step. Keep a bowl of warm soapy water nearby for easy cleanup.
