Ingredients

  • Colored sand
  • Candle wax (paraffin or beeswax)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your space: Lay out materials in a well-ventilated area covered with newspaper.
  2. Melt the wax using a double boiler; stir occasionally until fully liquid.
  3. Prepare the wick by cutting it to length and securing it in the bottom of the container.
  4. Add sand layers in the container, planning your design with different colors.
  5. Pour melted wax over the sand, avoiding spills.
  6. Secure the wick in place as you pour, using a chopstick if necessary.
  7. Let the candle cool completely; this may take a few hours.
