A fun and creative activity for all ages, making beautiful tie-dye flowers using coffee filters and washable markers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 white basket-style coffee filters
  • 1 pack of washable markers in assorted colors
  • 1 small 2-ounce spray bottle filled with water
  • 5 green chenille stems (12-inch length)
  • 1 empty 8-ounce glass jar

Instructions

  1. Start by flattening the coffee filters on a flat surface; this is where the fun begins!
  2. Let your little ones use the washable markers to create colorful patterns or dots around the edges of the filters—encourage them to get creative!
  3. Lightly mist the decorated filters with water until the lovely colors start to bleed together, creating beautiful blends.
  4. Once they’re all lovely and drenched in color, let them dry completely on a protected surface; patience is key here!
  5. After they’re dry, pinch the center of each filter to form flower petals and wrap a chenille stem around the base to create the perfect flower stem.

Notes

To preserve their colors, store the flowers in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Revive with a gentle mist of water if needed.
