A fun DIY project for kids to create sparkly bouncing balls using simple household items.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 to 6 ounces clear glue
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons cornstarch or texture filler
  • Small bottle of contact lens solution or saline with boric acid
  • Small jars of fine cosmetic glitter
  • Optional: food coloring or liquid dye
  • A mixing bowl
  • A small spoon or spatula
  • Measuring spoons
  • Wax paper or silicone mat
  • A small container of water
  • A soft towel

Instructions

  1. Pour about 4 ounces of clear glue into your bowl.
  2. Add one to two drops of food coloring if desired.
  3. Stir softly to blend the color into the glue.
  4. Sprinkle in 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and fold the mixture.
  5. Add glitter a small spoonful at a time.
  6. Drop in a little contact solution and stir.
  7. Dust your hands lightly with cornstarch and start to roll.
  8. Shape into round balls and place on wax paper.
  9. Test a single ball by dropping it gently from a low height.
  10. Let the balls rest overnight for the best bounce.

Notes

Kids may require supervision while handling glue and solution. Adjust ingredients for texture as needed.
