A fun and creative project transforming ordinary seashells into stunning crystal creations.

Ingredients

  • Seashells
  • Borax
  • Water
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Container for crystallization

Instructions

  1. Begin by boiling water in a kettle or pot. Make sure an adult handles this part.
  2. In a heat-safe container, mix about 3 tablespoons of borax for every cup of boiling water. Stir gently until the mixture is clear; this may take a moment.
  3. If you’d like to add a splash of color, drop in a few drops of food coloring and give it a stir.
  4. Carefully submerge the seashells in the solution, making sure they don’t overlap. Each shell deserves its moment to sparkle!
  5. Now, let your creation sit undisturbed for 12 to 24 hours. This is the magical time when crystals will begin to form.
  6. When the time is up, gently remove the shells and allow them to dry on a paper towel, marveling at the transformation you’ve made.

Notes

Store the crystal seashells in a cool, dry place. Clean gently with a damp cloth if needed, being careful not to disrupt the crystals.
