Ingredients
Watercolor paper
Watercolors
Table salt
Paintbrushes
Small cups for mixing colors
Water
Paper towels
Instructions
Start by preparing your workspace. Lay down paper towels to protect the surfaces and set out all the materials within reach.
Use the watercolor paper as your canvas, being mindful of the size you choose.
Fill small cups with watercolors and add a little water to help them flow smoothly.
Using your paintbrush, start painting sections of your watercolor paper with different colors. Be creative and layer the colors!
While the paint is still wet, generously sprinkle salt over the painted areas. Watch as the salt begins to absorb the watercolors and creates interesting textures.
Allow the artwork to dry completely, which will take about 30-60 minutes. The salt will leave behind beautiful patterns as it dries.
Once dry, gently brush off the salt residue to reveal the final texture of your galaxy artwork.
Notes
This project is mess-friendly and provides a great opportunity for creativity and learning about color mixing and scientific interactions.
