A fun and creative indoor activity for kids using melted crayon shavings to create beautiful butterfly window art.

Ingredients

  • Crayon shavings in 6 colors
  • Wax paper
  • Parchment paper
  • Butterfly template
  • Iron (with adult supervision)
  • Black cardstock
  • Ribbon

Instructions

  1. Start by scattering small amounts of rainbow crayon shavings between two sheets of wax paper.
  2. Cover the wax paper with a piece of parchment paper.
  3. With adult supervision, gently press the warm iron over the parchment paper.
  4. Let the melted crayon sheet cool completely.
  5. Use the butterfly template to cut out wing shapes from the cooled sheet.
  6. Cut a butterfly-shaped frame from black cardstock.
  7. Attach the melted-crayon wings inside the black frame.
  8. Add a ribbon for hanging and find a sunny window to display it.

Notes

This project teaches creativity, fine motor skills, and cause and effect. Ensure adult supervision during the ironing process.
