A delightful arts and crafts project that connects you to nature while creating beautiful frozen ice crystal pinecones for winter decorations.

Ingredients

  • Pinecones
  • Epsom salt
  • Water
  • Glitter (optional, for that extra sparkle)
  • String (for hanging)

Instructions

  1. Tie a piece of string securely around the top scales of each pinecone; this will be helpful for hanging them later.
  2. Dissolve Epsom salt into hot water in a large wide-mouth container, stirring gently until it’s completely dissolved.
  3. Submerge the pinecones in the salt solution and, if you’d like a bit of sparkle, stir in some optional glitter.
  4. Leave the pinecones to soak in the solution for 24 hours; this is where the magic truly begins!
  5. Carefully remove the pinecones from the liquid after the time has passed and hang them somewhere safe to dry overnight.

Notes

These frozen pinecones make beautiful ornaments for your home and can be reused year after year. Store them in a cool, dry place for preservation.
