A delightful craft project that transforms medium-sized pinecones into colorful decorations inspired by the beauty of nature.

Ingredients

  • 6 clean medium-sized pinecones
  • 3 cups Borax powder
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 1 pack assorted liquid food coloring
  • 6 wide-mouth glass jars
  • 6 wooden skewers
  • Cotton string

Instructions

  1. Begin by tying a piece of cotton string to the top of each pinecone. Then, attach the other end of the string to a wooden skewer so that the pinecone hangs freely.
  2. In a large container, dissolve 3 cups of Borax powder into 4 cups of boiling water. Give it a gentle stir until it’s completely mixed.
  3. Carefully divide the Borax solution evenly among the 6 glass jars, leaving a little space at the top to prevent any overflow.
  4. Add 10 to 15 drops of different food coloring to each jar, creating your lovely rainbow colors.
  5. Gently lower a pinecone into each jar, ensuring it’s fully submerged but doesn’t touch the bottom or sides.
  6. Now, let your pinecones sit undisturbed for 12 to 24 hours to allow the crystals to form.
  7. Once ready, carefully remove your beautiful, crystal-covered pinecones from the jars and hang them to dry completely.
