An engaging and vibrant DIY experiment for kids that combines baking soda and vinegar to create a colorful fizzing reaction.

Ingredients

  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar (or lemon juice as a substitute)
  • Food coloring or natural dyes
  • Small bowls or cups for mixing
  • Measuring spoons
  • A tray for display (optional)

Instructions

  1. Measure out a few tablespoons of baking soda and place it into small bowls, spaced apart.
  2. Add a few drops of food coloring to the baking soda.
  3. In a separate bowl, measure out the vinegar and observe its appearance.
  4. Slowly pour the vinegar over the colored baking soda and watch the fizzing reaction.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 to create additional colors or layers.
  6. Reflect on your colorful creation and discuss what everyone liked best about the experiment.

Notes
