4 round white paper coffee filters
1 pack of washable markers (various colors)
1 small cup of water (about 2 ounces)
4 wooden clothespins
8 small plastic googly eyes
2 fuzzy pipe cleaners (cut in half)
Instructions
Begin by using those bright washable markers to draw thick, colorful circles or dots around the center of each coffee filter, making sure to leave the very middle blank.
Next, fold each coffee filter into a cone shape and lightly dip just the blank tip into the water, allowing the colors to spread beautifully.
After that, let your wet coffee filters dry completely on a flat, protected surface—enjoy the vibrant colors as they bloom!
Once they are dry, gather each filter in the center to create lovely wing shapes and clip a wooden clothespin in the middle to form the butterfly’s body.
Finally, wrap a piece of pipe cleaner around the top for antennae and glue on two googly eyes for a touch of whimsy.
