A relaxing, step-by-step craft project for kids to create beautiful, jewel-like crystal seashells using simple materials.

Ingredients

  • Clean seashells, any shape
  • Clear craft glue or jewelry adhesive
  • Fine and coarse crystal chips or crushed glass
  • Iridescent mica powder or fine glitter
  • Small paintbrush, soft bristles
  • Tweezers or toothpick
  • Shallow tray or scrap paper
  • Clear sealer spray or gloss varnish
  • Cotton gloves or finger protectors (optional)

Instructions

  1. Clean and dry shells thoroughly.
  2. Lay out crystals and tools for easy access.
  3. Arrange crystals on the shell without glue to test placement.
  4. Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the shell using the brush.
  5. Place larger crystals first, gently pressing them into the glue.
  6. Fill in smaller crystals around the larger ones.
  7. Dust with mica powder for shimmer if desired.
  8. Allow to set undisturbed for several hours.
  9. If needed, add a second layer of adhesive.
  10. Seal the finished pieces with clear sealer.
  11. Clean excess dust once dry.
  12. Reflect on and enjoy your finished shells.

Notes

Use a tray to keep the mess contained. Adult supervision is essential, especially for cutting or gluing in tight spots. Mix colors and shapes for a unique look.
